Ultra-efficient, sustainable model for addressing vision impairment
ABOUT
Charity Vision
According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 36 million people around the world are blind and another 217 million have moderate to severe vision impairment. It is extremely difficult for people with serious vision impairments in many places around the world to obtain an education, work and provide for their families. Since more than 80% of all vision impairment can be prevented or cured, restoring a person’s site completely changes their prospect for a better future.
Charity Vision International has developed an ultra-efficient, sustainable model for addressing the causes of vision impairment. They have been working for 30 years to develop and refine this model to provide resources to local physicians who volunteer their time to help restore the sight of people in their own countries. By efficiently sourcing surgical equipment and supplies and partnering with local doctors who donate their time, CharityVision performs life changing eye surgeries for an average cost of $25-$30 per procedure. They currently work with an extensive network of local doctors in 26 countries, and have completed more than 500,000 charitable eye surgeries. SCF has been contributing to Charity Vision for the past 25 years.
