SCF Director Steve Henry spent 10 days in Guatemala with his wife Rachael in January 2018. The Henry's assessed current needs and delivered a 1,000-bottle shipment of pre-natal vitamins provided at no cost by Kirk Humanitarian.
SCF funded the construction of a full-service health center in in the city of Senahu. The center serves over 800 mothers and children each week who travel from over 250 surrounding villages. Women are trained in mid-wife skills, infant and maternal nutrition, food preparation, gardening and budgeting.
SCF funded a teaching center for women and mothers (“Ochoch”) 30 minutes from Senahu which they call “Casa Naru”. Casa Naru has been so successful., that WLP has now developed plans for 2 more teaching centers (identical to Casa Naru) in neighboring areas.
