Medical Clinic | Philippine Islands

In the Philippines, over 4,000 children are born with impairments and physical deformities each year. Clef lips, cleft pallets, club feet, crossed eyes, etc. are unfortunately seen by many as a mark of evil or symbol of wrongdoing. Consequently, most children with such impairments drop out of school within the first couple of years.

Davao, Philippine Islands

SCF constructed a medical clinic in rural Davao where children and families have limited access to basic medical care. The clinic provides medical care as well as critical surgeries to correct physical deformities, such as cleft palates and clubfeet.

SCF has partnered with Deseret International in funding corrective and reconstructive surgeries. Local volunteer physicians become partners with Deseret International assisted by American doctors who at their own expense travel to third world countries, training local physicians in the latest techniques and equipment.

For an average of $25, you can help cure blindess, allow lame to walk and help deformed children to speak and eat normally for the first time in their lives.
